Frequently Asked Questions

  • Therapy can be helpful for anyone who wants support — you don't need to be in crisis to benefit. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, grieving, or simply want a confidential space to work through life's challenges, therapy may be a great fit. Many of our clients come to us during major life transitions, relationship difficulties, or periods of depression and anxiety. If you're unsure, reach out. We're happy to answer questions before you schedule your first session.

  • Your first session is mostly a conversation. Your therapist will ask what brought you in, a bit about your background, and what you're hoping to work on. You won't be expected to share everything at once — we move at your pace.

  • Our therapists primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that helps you identify unhelpful thought patterns and build practical coping skills. We offer individual therapy for adults, teens, youth (ages 9+), couples, family therapy, and grief and loss support.

  • Most sessions are 50 minutes. Your therapist will discuss frequency and length with you based on your goals.

  • Both options are available. In-person sessions are offered in Dixon, IL. Virtual sessions are available across Illinois and Iowa through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.

  • It depends on your goals. Some clients find what they need in a few months; others prefer ongoing support. You're always in control of your journey, and your therapist will check in on your progress regularly.
