Life has a way of throwing heavy things our path. Whether you are navigating addiction, riding the waves of anxiety, or trying to reconnect in your relationship, carrying it all on your own gets exhausting.
If you have been feeling stuck or isolated, we want you to know something simple: you do not have to figure everything out by yourself. Healing rarely happens in a vacuum, and having a steady presence in your corner makes all the difference.
Today, we would love to introduce you to one of the compassionate faces at Rays of Wellness, Charis Allen.
A Heart for Recovery, Couples, and Community
Charis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). She specializes in helping adults through addiction and recovery, anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, life transitions, and relationship challenges.
In addition to supporting individuals, Charis works closely with couples. She helps partners rebuild trust, navigate tough seasons, and find better ways to communicate without the friction.
Charis brings a down-to-earth, plain-spoken approach to counseling. She understands that therapy is not about handing down a list of things you "should" be doing. Instead, it is about creating a comfortable space where you can show up as you are, speak honestly, and find small, practical steps forward.
"Community is the Best Treatment"
At the heart of Charis’s work is a simple truth she returns to often:
“I really believe in connecting and community as the BEST treatment for your mental health.”
In our small towns, we know how much strength comes from leaning on one another. When we open up and share our struggles in a safe space, the isolation begins to fade. Real healing happens when we feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported by those around us.
You Don't Have to Do This Alone
Taking that first step toward therapy can feel intimidating, but you do not have to carry the weight by yourself. Whether you are looking for individual support or hoping to strengthen your partnership, Charis is here to walk alongside you.
Charis offers both virtual and in-person appointments in Illinois, accepting major insurances including BCBS, United/Optum, Aetna, Cigna/Evernorth, Medicare, as well as self-pay options.
If you are ready to explore support, our team is always in your corner.
